The courses have been approved by the CMPDC management committee and the proposal has been sent to Allahabad University (AU) for the approval.

The college expects AU to give its nod for the new courses.

Head of Chemistry Department Dr VK Sinha, who has stepped down from the post of principal after serving at the post for three months on Friday, said that courses on Fashion Designing, Yoga and Tourism will be started at the CMPDC and the college management has given permission to run the courses. Initially these courses will have 10 seats each.

Dr Sinha said; "Although the fees for these courses are yet to be decided, the course co-ordinators have been appointed. Dr Rama Rani, Head of Philosophy department will be the co-ordinator for Yoga course, Head of Political Science Department Dr OP Sinha has been appointed as co-ordinator of Tourism course while Head of Psychology Department Dr Saroj Narula has been appointed as course co-ordinator for Fashion Designing".

"The courses would be run on the college campus and the college administration has done necessary preparation for running the courses. The college would start the courses immediately after it gets permission from the university", added Dr Sinha.

Chief proctor resigns

CMPDC chief proctor Dr Sashank Dwivedi stepped down from the post immediately after Dr Kiran Shankar assumed the office of the principal on Saturday. However, Dr Dwivedi cited personal reasons for the resignation. The college sources called it a change due to change in the leadership.

Dr Dwivedi said " I had declined the post of chief proctor offered by the then principal Dr VK Sinha but I accepted his proposal till the conclusion of the examination. But now when the examinations are over I had willingly submitted my resignation to the principal Dr Sinha on Friday through post".

However, the present principal Dr Kiran Shankar said, " I am unaware of any such development and had not received any information in this regard so far".
