Co-traveller with Azam Khan detained at IGI airport

A passenger travelling with Samajwadi Party leader and minister in UP government Azam Khan was detained at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) for carrying live bullets in his hand baggage on Thursday evening.

A passenger travelling with Samajwadi Party leader and minister in UP government Azam Khan was detained at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) for carrying live bullets in his hand baggage on Thursday evening.

According to Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), bullets were detected on screening of the hand baggage they were carrying during security check. "They were travelling to Lucknow by Spicejet flight. Four live cartridges of .32 bore were recovered," said a CISF official.

Sources said khan and his co traveller were unaware of the presence of bullet in bag and were asked to produce license. They got license faxed from Lucknow and produced it before the security personnel.

"After proper verification, they were allowed to travel but bullets were seized," the official said.

As per the rule carrying bullet is illegal and if failed to produce valid documents,passenger can face arrest.

Earlier reports said that Khan was detained at the airport.
