Cold sweeps Punjab and Haryana

Biting cold conditions continued to sweep Punjab and Haryana on Monday with Narnaul reeling at a minimum temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius.

Biting cold conditions continued to sweep Punjab and Haryana on Monday with Narnaul reeling at a minimum temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius.

The minimum at Narnaul in Haryana settled four notches below normal range, the MeT said here.

Hisar also braved the chill at a low of 4.6 deg C, down two notches, while cold conditions also prevailed at Rohtak which recorded a low of 4.9 deg C, two below normal.

Karnal recorded a minimum of 5.4 deg C, down four degrees, while respective lows at Bhiwani and Gurgaon settled at 5.2 deg C and 7 deg C.

Chandigarh also braved a cold night at 5.8 deg C, one below normal.

In Punjab, Amritsar was the coldest at 4.5 deg C, while Ludhiana also reeled under cold registering a low of 4.9 deg C, two below normal.

The chill also swept Patiala at 5.8 deg C, down one degree.

The MeT department said that fog reduced visibility early this morning at some places, including Karnal and Rohtak in Haryana and Amritsar and Ludhiana in Punjab.

No immediate relief from the cold wave conditions can be expected during the next two days in the region, according to the MeT forecast.
