The supporters of Rai gheraoed the police substation in Gagha and raised slogans against the district administration. The police force deployed on the spot faced a tough time in handling the situation. A minor dispute took an ugly turn on Friday when the librarian of the college Rai Pratap Rai refused to give a book to Deepak Rai, son of BJP leader Krishna Murari Rai. Deepak is a student of the college. Deepak was also beaten up by the librarian. Sharply reacting to the incident, the BJP leader and his supporters entered the college premises with rods and sticks and thrashed the teachers and the librarian.
They also ransacked the college office and the cycle stand. Two students, including Sonu Rai, sustained serious injuries in the case.
The situation was controlled through the intervention of the principal and other senior staff members on Friday.
The office superintendent of the college lodged an FIR against them, alleging that they looted Rs 1.22 lakh from the college.
DIOS instructions DISTRICT INSPECTOR of school Ramagya Kumar directed principals of various Intermediate colleges to send in details of the strength of regular students in the college during the current academic session and list of students eligible for scholarship. Kumar directed principals to submit the report regarding use of funds provided to them for scholarship in previous academic session.
Presiding over the meeting of the principals to review preparation for the board examination of current session at MG Inter College, Kumar asked principals of the colleges to provide details regarding promotion of teachers in their respective colleges and teachers who got retirement from services on June 30.
Kumar said regularisation of services of teachers, their promotion and furnishing of paper work for pension will be completed soon and that cooperation was needed from the college.
