With all admission formalities wrapped up, Delhi University (DU) gears up to welcome new students today. Excitement reverberated throughout DU on Wednesday, when colleges introduced students formally to their disciplines, through the orientation programme. However, the real test will begin when students start classes with the onset of the new academic session.

"The orientation programme was an insight into what the college stands for. We also met some of our teachers and saw the college. But the real game will begin when we start classes tomorrow (Thursday)," said Alisha Joseph, a student of St. Stephen's College.

This academic session, students have a greater task of surmounting the challenge of the semester system.

"The course covered across the first two semesters will be 1.5 times more than earlier. So, the workload for students will increase," said Gulshan Sawhney, deputy dean of students' welfare, DU.

Even though the new system has left several students anxious, some of the present students are acquainting newcomers with the modified pattern of education.
