Colourful display by SMC students
LIVELINESS OF sports mingled with spectrum of colours was witnessed at the annual sports and PT display held at St Mary's Covent Inter College on Tuesday. The colourful sports event began with a prayer and national anthem. The patriotic tune of 'Sare jahan se achchha' played by the orchestra group of the college guided the students of class 2 to 5 to match their steps during the march past.

The colourful sports event began with a prayer and national anthem. The patriotic tune of 'Sare jahan se achchha' played by the orchestra group of the college guided the students of class 2 to 5 to match their steps during the march past. The leader of each group carried a placard which dealt with important social messages such as 'Education for all', 'From darkness to light', 'From ignorance to awareness', 'Education is life' and many others. Although all the groups tried their level best to win the competition but standard 5A and 5D emerged victorious.
The next item of 'Crowning glory' was appreciated by the huge audience present at the venue. Kids dressed in white presented a PT with prop which added liveliness to the event.
Wide array of colours dispersed on the field during the PT display. The students of class 4 presented this kaleidoscopic item 'Spectrum of colours' while holding the dupattas of red, yellow, blue and green colours. They formed the shapes of flowers, peacock etc through their PT display. This presentation was a treat to the eyes.
A lot more interesting events awaited the audience. The race 'Who am I?' was based on finding the person donning the similar coloured party prop as sported by the contestant.
Surprisingly the kids left no stone unturned to make the event as entertaining as possible. Their enthusiasm clearly matched with their amazing sporting spirit.
Dress yourself', 'Going to a birthday party', 'Find your pair', 'Striking success', 'Rhythm of life', 'Sunahara kal' were other sports events which received loud cheers.
The mass PT display by students of classes 3, 4 and 5 was held during the concluding ceremony. Prizes were distributed by Dr Smita S Chaudhri, IAAS, who is the wife of Himanshu Kumar. Curtains came down on the event with the school anthem.
Himanshu Kumar, IAS, vice chairman of ADA was the chief guest on the occasion while Rt Rev Isidore Fernandes, Bishop of Allahabad, was present as the guest of honour.
