A complaint has been lodged in a court in Ranchi against union Home Minister P Chidambaram for blaming migrants for the crimes taking place in Delhi.
Ashish Kumar Singh, a resident of Ranchi, lodged the complaint against Chidambaram in the chief judicial magistrate's court here for allegedly promoting enmity between different groups and making statements conducive to public mischief.
"How can a home minister pass such an irresponsible statement? The home minister has the duty to maintain law and order in the country, not to pass such statements to hurt the sentiments of the people of the state (Jharkhand)," Singh's complaint says.
Chidambaram on Monday blamed outsiders for the rising crime graph in the national capital. His statement invited sharp reactions from both opposition parties and his own Congress party. Later, in a statement he clarified his remarks.
