In a startling revelation, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday alleged that a conspiracy to assassinate him and Amar Singh had been hatched by the Congress in collusion with a prominent industrialist of the country.

Addressing a public rally at Bithur in Kanpur on Monday the Samajwadi Party supremo said, "It has been brought to my notice that the Congress along with a leading industrialist of the country was conspiring to kill me and Singh."

The details of the entire conspiracy will be disclosed at an appropriate time, he added.

On the notice issued by the Supreme Court to him and his family members on a PIL pertaining to properties held by them, Yadav said that he had always respected the judiciary and would submit the appropriate reply within the stipulated time.

"The PIL is another Congress effort to defame me, which will never bear fruits," he quipped.

Earlier, addressing a public rally in Hathras (Aligarh), Yadav said that tapping telephones of senior party leaders like Amar Singh not only amounted to intrusion of privacy, but also an onslaught on the entire socialist ideology. He further said that the matter could gain international attention.

Changing the tack, the CM said that all-round development had taken place during his regime on all counts and those alleging lawlessness in UP were only trying to defame the UP government, fearing its rising popularity.
