Cong protests police action, takes out rally

CONGRESS MEMBERS took out a procession and staged a demonstration at the district magistrate office here on Wednesday. They were protesting against the police highhandedness in dealing with the party workers. They said that the police action would not be tolerated and the party workers would intensify their agitation.

They were protesting against the police highhandedness in dealing with the party workers. They said that the police action would not be tolerated and the party workers would intensify their agitation.

Congress leaders Rais Ahmad Khan, Pradeep Nath Shukla and Markandey Singh who addressed the agitators said that the arrest of Congress leader Gita Pandey, president of District Congress Committee’s (DCC) women’ cell is highly condemnable.

District vice-president of the party Laxmi Chand Singhania said that it was a deep-rooted conspiracy to demoralise the Congress workers.

They criticised the police for beating up state secretary of the Youth Congress Rana Rahul Singh who was at Vijay Crossing to purchase some essential items when the shootout between the two groups of contractors to took place for bidding transportation food grains.

Rana Rahul Singh said that he had no connection with incident, but the police had beaten him up without any reason.

The agitators demanded a judicial inquiry into the firing on the Cinema Road.
