RASHTRIYA SWAYAMSEWAK Sangh (RSS) is out to clear the misconceptions among the members of the Muslim community in the ongoing centenary birth anniversary celebrations of its stalwart Madhavrao Sadhashiv Golwalkar.

Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, national president of the minority cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tanveer Haider Usmani accused the Congress of spreading canards about RSS, particularly among Muslims.
RSS is celebrating the birth anniversary celebration of Golwarkar from February 2006 to 2007. BJP has also held Congress responsible for the mistrust between the organisation and Muslims. “Congress ruled the country for 45 years and led a slander campaign against RSS among members of the Muslim community,” Usmani stated.
To clear all misconceptions about RSS among the Muslims, a year-long programme had been finalised in the ongoing centenary birth anniversary celebrations of Madhavrao Sadhashiv Golwalkar, Usmani added.
Usmani added that RSS has decided to reach out to all sections of the society and was celebrating the year as ‘Samrashta Varsha’.
Advocating a proactive role by the Muslims, Usmani said, “All terrorist activities in the country must be denounced by Muslims be it the attack on Ayodhya, Akshardham or the serial bomb blasts in Delhi and Mumbai by staging demonstrations.”
Muslims must be vocal in denouncing increasing terrorist activities in the country, Usmani demanded.
The national convener of the BJP also criticisef the head-count of Muslims in Army, judiciary and other services. He added this move had also initiated by the Congress government.
“Such a move will only further alienate Muslims from the mainstream of the society and the entire onus lies on Congress party,” Usmani said.
The announcement of half-day leave for Muslims on Friday for offering Namaz by the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, which was later retracted, was also strongly criticised by the BJP leader.
“The unwarranted step was taken by the CM without taking into confidence members of the Muslim community. The result was that Hindu also demanded half-day leave on Tuesday,” Usmani stated. The announcement was rolled-back when Muslims refused to accept the offer of the CM, Usmani added.
Repealing of Pota by the Congress government just to appease Muslims was also strongly condemned by the BJP leader.
On the occasion, he informed that in the ongoing centenary celebration, a seminar on ‘Role of Muslims in nation building’ has been organised at BNSD Shiksha Niketan on Saturday. All prominent citizens of the city would take part in it.
