Cong screening committee for assembly polls constituted

Congress president Sonia Gandhi has approved a screening committee for the state for the forthcoming assembly elections, comprising of Ajay Maken (chairman), Shubhankar Sarkar, Ambika Soni as general secretaries in-charge, Saifuddin Soz as Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president and Mohammad Sharief Niaz as CLP leader, as its members.

PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma (MLC) said the list of candidates for the assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir should be approved by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) president after screening by AICC screening committee constituted on Friday on the recommendations of the Pradesh Congress Election Committee, which was already constituted earlier by the AICC president.

He (Sharma) said that no list had yet been approved and issued by the Congress party so far. He added that certain lists were being circulated by certain vested interests in the media and social network only to create confusion.
