Reeling under a sulking Natwar Singh's sniper attacks, Congress on Friday sent a stern message to him and distanced itself from the Volcker controversy.

"That will be discussed at a higher level," party spokesman Rajeev Shukla told reporters who was plied with questions whether Singh's action tantamount to a breach of discipline and whether any action will be taken against him.

Asked to comment on Singh's statement that it was "extraordinary" that he was being targeted in news reports on the probe when there were "equally serious allegations" like him against the Congress, he remarked "Congress has nothing to do with that..."

To a query whether the Congress has got a 'clean chit' in the matter, he said the Commission probing the Volcker controversy has not given its report.

Shukla also rejected former External Affairs Minister's criticism of the Indo-US nuclear agreement and asserted that the party was fully backing the government on the issue.
