Congress demanded the resignation of Karnataka's Minister-cum mining magnates, the Reddy brothers, following the Supreme Court staying the mining operations of their Obulapuram Mining Company in Andhra Pradesh pending a probe to verify allegations of encroachment.

G Karunakara Reddy is the Revenue Minister and his brother G Janardhana Reddy holds Tourism and Infrastructure Developmen portfolio in the B S Yeddyurappa-led BJP government.
President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee R V Deshpande said here that the Supreme Court order made it clear that the Reddy brothers "looted" the resources of the nation.
"They don't have the right to continue in the Government", Deshpande told reporters. "The Chief Minister should seek their resignation and if they don't quit, they should be sacked".
Staying the mining operations yesterday, the apex court, also appointed a high-level committee headed by the Survey of India to verify allegations of large-scale encroachment by OMC. The alleged enroachments include certain reserve forest areas in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
