About 30 MLAs and MLCs from Telangana met here today at the residence of former minister R Damodar Reddy and decided to write to party President Sonia Gandhi explaining the prevailing situation in the region and impressing upon her the pressing need to take an appropriate decision on the issue.

The legislators, however, did not invite any minister hailing from the region for the meeting protesting their "attitude in taking up the issue on their own" without involving them.

The ministers from Telangana have written a letter late on Saturday to Sonia Gandhi requesting her to take an urgent decision on Telangana in deference to the sentiments of the people of the region. Veteran leader and Congress Central Working Committee member G Venkataswamy too wrote a letter separately on the issue.

"We are going to prepare a plan of action and present it to Chief Minister K Rosaiah as well as the Congress high command," former Home Minister K Jana Reddy, who took the initiative for the meeting, said.
