A final announcement of the coalition and seats each party would put up candidates for is likely to be made after former chief minister Nitish Kumar returns to Patna from Mumbai on July 30.

“The alliance has been finalised. We will contest the by-polls together,” state food and civil supply minister Shyam Razak told media persons after meeting Prasad.

RJD’s Prabhunath Singh, too, confirmed to reporters that an agreement had been reached.

The ‘secular’ formation, Nitish Kumar’s brainchild, is an attempt by the parties to keep BJP at bay.
