MOVING A step ahead to corner the state government, the Congress will organise a statewide demonstration and dharna on April 3 at the district headquarters to register their protest over Mehar murder case in Lucknow and to expose the failure of the government to check the rising crime graph.

Member of All India Congress Committee Dr Syed Jamal said the organising incharge of the party in the state Satyadev Tripathi had sent a circular to the party office-bearers in this regards. He blamed the Samajwadi Party Government for sheltering unsocial elements and said mafia were ruling in the state.

Continuing his offensive against the SP government, Jamal said the murder of Meher in Lucknow was shocking and it had exposed the incompetence of the government to check the criminal elements.

He blamed the state government for adopting double standards in distribution of power in eastern UP and said that if the chief minister had any concern about the plight of the people he should immediately order suspension of rostering at night.

It may be noted that SP leaders had stepped up their attack on Congress president Sonia Gandhi and to counter the attack the Congress has prepared a strategy and the proposed dharna is part of this strategy. Through the dharna, the Congress will highlight the sacrifices made by Sonia Gandhi by her resignation from post of chairperson of Nac and from the Lok Sabha.
