A group of Congressmen led by district (rural) president Sukhjinder Singh Majithia went to the Akal Takht to perform Ardas to thank theAlmighty for Sidhu's conviction. But priests there refused to perform the prayer.

Singh said during the prayer at Akal Takht they prayed to the Almighty for the adequate quantum of punishment for Sidhu so that justice was delivered to the victim's family.
