THE SPECIAL Task Force (STF) and the district police in a joint operation on Saturday arrested three criminals for kidnapping and murder of a contractor Neeraj Agarwal.

Talking to reporters on Sunday, SSP BD Polson said some miscreants had kidnapped Neeraj from Gohania crossing in Ghoorpur area on November 11.
The SSP said the district police and the STF launched a search operation after the kidnapping.

He said several teams of the district police headed by CO Crime Rahul Srivastava had gone to track down the culprits. Later, the STF team, led by Additional SP (STF) Ashok Kumar Tripathi, joined the district police.

“Through electronic surveillance, the STF came to know about presence of the accused Arvind Kumar Pandey in the city. Arvind was arrested along with two persons from the Teliarganj Tempo-taxi stand on Saturday afternoon, he said.
The arrested criminals were identified as Arvind Kumar Pandey alias Babloo, Lavlesh Patel, Shivmurat Tiwari

The SSP said a mobile phone, two SIM cards out of which one belonged to Neeraj Agarwal, were recovered from the criminals. Some photographs of Neeraj were also recovered from Arvind.

Arvind confessed that Neeraj was murdered on November 15. They kidnapped Neeraj for Rs 10 lakh offered by Anil Srivastava, a resident of Lukerganj, Arvind said. During the interrogation, Arvind said they had observed Neeraj’s activities for two-three days before kidnapping him. He said they had kidnapped Neeraj from Gohania Crossing under Ghoorpur police station.

Neeraj was kidnapped while he was returning from his plant in Bara on November 11. He said they kept Neeraj in a jungle and decided to extort money from his family.

Arvind said they demanded ransom from the family members who agreed to pay.
However, they handed over Neeraj to some Munna according to the deal. It was Munna who murdered Neeraj. SSP said the arrested criminals provided useful information.

Around 10 people were involved in the conspiracy of Neeraj’s murder. SSP said Anil Srivastava, about whom Arvind mentioned, was Neeraj’s driver. “The vehicle used to kidnap Neeraj was recovered from Dhoomanganj,” the SSP added.
