The incident occurred during the practice session of Indian team on the eve of the April 12 India-England tie at Keenan stadium.

Bidhu Bhusan Trivedi, who was on duty in the field, reportedly broke his front teeth when R P Singh hit a ball off Irfan Pathan.

In his complaint, Trivedi said he fainted and fell on the field as soon as the ball hit his face causing blood to ooze out profusely from the cut, adding no one had come to help him. Later, four stitches were applied on his lips, he said.

He alleged that the two players were practicing outside the nets and the incident would not have taken place had they practiced inside the nets.

When contacted, Assistant Superintendent of Police S K Jha told that no FIR was lodged as the players and the coach were not responsible for the unfortunate incident.

The cop, however, threatened to take legal action against the players and the coach if the police failed to lodge an FIR.
