Cops force chemists to open shops

Opposing the new Schedule HX -- which requires chemists and doctors to retain patient prescriptions for certain drugs introduced by the Central government in the Drug and Cosmetics Act -- most medical stores in Delhi kept their shutters down today morning but opened up as the day progressed.

However, many chemists in the vicinity of Aiims and Safdarjung Hospital were forced to open shops around noon through police intervention, after angry patients blocked traffic movement on Aurobindo Marg.
