ANNOYED AT the laxity of the Sisamau police in dealing with the accused in the murder of sixteen-year-old Rahul Gupta, angry residents gheraoed the Sisamau police station for three hours, on Thursday. They alleged the police were siding with the culprits. However, the demonstrators dispersed after the police resorted to lathicharge in which some persons suffered injuries.

The locals went berserk and started pelting the police station with stones that resulted in a stampede at Zarib chowki crossing. As a result, several commuters were injured.

It may be recalled that Rahul, son of Swarn Kumar Gupta and a resident of Sisamau was brutally done to death and his mutilated body discovered in a dry pond at Bithoor on Wednesday.

After initial investigation, police pinpointed the blame on two youths, reportedly sons of police officials. Police, on Wednesday, detained the youth in connection with the murder. Ironically, officials of the Sisamau police station let off the accused.

On Thursday morning, when the locals learnt about the police ‘act’, they gheraoed the Sisamau police station.
