He is the younger son of Indra Bhadra Singh, former MLA from Sultanpur, who was killed, allegedly at the behest of the seer, some years ago.
Though the involvement of Chandra Bhadra Singh, elder son of Indra Bhadra Singh, who is now an MLA from Sultanpur is a foregone conclusion, it was Yash who was actually with the gang which carried out the supari killing, feel the cops.
However, to substantiate their claim about the presence of Yash, cops don't have any solid evidence in hand.
For this they are trying to get the call details of the mobile used by Yash. For, it is this instrument which will establish his presence in case he was there along with the murderers.
Another thing which points the needle of suspicion at Yash are his plans to knock the seer down earlier during his court appearances in the former MLA's murder trial in Sultanpur. It was because of this fear that Sant Gyaneshwar had asked the administration to provide him with security.
As a result, the government was spending around Rs 50,000 on security cover to the seer each time he had to come to the court. It was a hardened criminal from Chandauli, Deena Yadav who is said to have bombed Indra Bhadra Singh to death in full public view in Sultanpur.
After the killing Deena tried to escape but was reportedly nabbed by a shopkeeper and handed over to the police. During quizzing Deena is reported to have confessed that he carried out the murder at the seer's behest. Since then the MLA's two sons had been trying to avenge the death of their father but had failed earlier.
Yash, alias Monu had been a student of Allahabad University. Because of his stay in this city for more than four years he was at home with every road and the mela area and as such served the purpose of the killers who had come to return only after fulfilling their task, police said.
However, one thing which was bafffling the cops is the fact that all the suspected sharp shooters had switched off their mobile phones 20 days before they accomplished their mission. The mobiles had been switched on only for a while before the killing took place. They again went silent after this.
