A useful one-day fast bowler, Collymore was one of the new West Indies quicks that were expected to fill the shoes of Courtney Walsh and Curtly Ambrose.

But a recurrent back injury and stress fractures have prevented him from showing the pace he was

renowned for as youngster.

And Collymore has become something of a one-day specialist.

He made his bow in the Test arena first, but his appearance against Australia in 1999 remains his

only outing.

And despite being a reliable performer, Collymore is yet to be considered a regular starter for his

country in the shorter format of the game.

But he remains a definite squad player and will not let anyone down when called on in South Africa.
