ReutersThird seed Guillermo Coria eased into the French Open quarter-finals on Sunday when his French opponent Nicolas Escude retired injured after losing the first set 6-0.
The Argentine, the highest seed left in the tournament following the early exits of defending champion Juan Carlos Ferrero and American Andy Roddick, clinched the first set in 25 minutes before the Frenchman decided to stop.
The nature of Escude's injury was not immediately clear, although he has a history of back and groin problems.
Coria, a semi-finalist last year, will meet the winner of the fourth round match between Spaniards Carlos Moya and Tommy Robredo in the quarter-finals.
