The counting of votes for Lok Sabha polls for 29 constituencies in Madhya Pradesh has began in Bhopal.

The counting of votes for Lok Sabha polls for 29 constituencies in Madhya Pradesh began in Bhopal on Thursday morning amidst tight security.

The electoral fortunes of 294 candidates, including Union Ministers Sumitra Mahajan (Indore), Satyanarayan Jaitya (Ujjain), Phaggan Singh Kulaste (Mandla), Prahlad Patel and Congress stalwart Kamalnath (both Chhindwara) would be decided today.

Elaborate measures, have been put into place at the counting centres, set up at district headquarters for smooth and speedy counting, the state Election Office sources said.

Heavy security forces have been deployed in sensitive and high-profile constituencies, including Chhindwara, Guna, Bhopal, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Khajuraho, Khargone and Bhind.
