Court issues stay on Dalmiya show cause

A city court gave a stay on the show cause notice regarding irregularities during the 1996 World Cup.

A city court on Wednesday gave a stay on the show cause notice given to former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Jagmohan Dalmiya by the current officials regarding irregularities during the 1996 World Cup.

Judge Prabir Kumar Sarkar of the city civil and sessions court restrained the BCCI from giving effect to their show cause notice dated February 27 till the disposal of the injunction application made by Dalmiya challenging the notice.

Veteran legal expert Siddhartha Sankar Ray, A Banerjee and A Chatterjee represented Dalmiya, while Ranjan Bachawat represented the BCCI.
