Court issues summons to Priyanka, father
THE COURT of Judicial Magistrate First Class Sadhna Maheshwari on Saturday issued summons to Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, her father Dr Ashok Chopra and underworld don Chhota Shakeel on a complaint filed by her former secretary Prakash Jaju.
The court registered a case under Section 506 (2) of IPC and directed all three accused to appear before the court in person on February 22. Prakash Jaju told Hindustan Times that after receiving threatening calls from Priyanka, Chhota Shakeel and her father on May 28, 2006, he had approached the Mhow police station to register a case against the three. But, the police registered a case against unidentified persons.
A police team under sub-inspector D P Yadav went to Mumbai to record statements of Priyanka and her father and later closed the case. Challenging this move, Prakash moved the court of Sadhna Maheshwari, which asked the police to submit a report in this case.
Even after the court issued directives thrice, the police were not able to submit a report, saying that the investigation was in progress. After hearing the plea of Jaju’s counsel Gyan Prakash Upadhyay on Saturday, the court registered the case and issued summons.
