CPI to protest against farmers? suicide tomorrow

COMMUNIST PARTY of India (CPI) has planned to stage demonstration at district, tehsil and block headquarters on September 11 in protest against the suicide by the farmers, acquisition of the fertile land by the government for sale to the corporate houses, corruption and price hike.

The assistant secretary of state CPI, Dr Girish alleged that due to the wrong policies of the Central and State governments the farmers were falling in debt trap and committing suicide. “The fertile lands are being acquired to set up high-tech cities, special economic zones and private colonies. The government is selling these land to businessman at throwaway price”, he said.

“The area of land under cultivation is decreasing fast and country is fast moving toward food insecurity. Those living below poverty line are not getting subsidised edible items from public distribution system outlets. The villagers are forced to migrate to the cities in search of petty jobs”, Girish rued.

“The people have lost faith in the Samajwadi Party government and want to get rid of it,” he added.
