According to police, one Tikam Chandra Bhatia of Shastri Nagar was issued a credit card by a nationalised bank about six months back by Ajay Yadav, who was working in the bank. On April 20, Ajay’s two aides Karunesh Mishra and Jeetendra went to Bhatia and asked him to return the credit card saying that the bank had selected him for ‘Golden Card’, which is tax-free.
Bhatia immediately surrendered the card. Later, the accused spent lavishly and made all payments through the card. After spending about Rs 39,000, they even called up the credit card department of the bank in New Delhi asking them to increase the limit of the card.
However, the bank officials contacted Bhatia and told him that his balance in the credit card was only Rs 1,000.
Bhatia then reported the matter to Kakadeo SHO RK Singh on May 2, who constituted a team headed by S-I Vimal Kumar. The team with the help of electronic surveillance traced all the calls made by the accused and nabbed them.
Police also recovered two mobile phones and a gold chain from the possession of the miscreants. SP, west Awadhesh Kumar lauded the effort of the Kakadeo police in solving the case in a short span.
The three confessed before the police that they got the idea from a Hindi movie and bluffed the victim.
