Crucial EC meet tomorrow

THE FOURTH meeting of Allahabad University?s (AU) Executive Council will be held at North hall of Senate House Campus at 2 pm on Wednesday. A number of important issues will be taken up by the council members in the meeting, besides confirming the minutes of the third meeting of EC held on May 23.

The EC members will be informed by AU registrar about the action taken in pursuance of the decisions and conclusions of the third meeting. The registrar will report the receipt of the notification issued by the Ministry of Human Resource Department dated July 14 and intimation of the constitution of the first Academic Council of the varsity by the Union Government.

The registrar will report the MHRD letter dated July 7, stating that the corum of the meeting of the first Academic Council shall be the majority of the total membership of the council.

The Executive Council will also consider creation of the post of 69 new faculty positions sanctioned by the UGC to different academic units of the varsity. The newly framed rules for the conduct of all-India MBA admission test for admission to MBA programme under the department of Commerce and Business Administration from 2006-07 will also be put before the Executive Council members for approval.

It is to be recalled that the matter of selection committee to be constituted by the approved panel of experts for appointment of professors, readers, lecturers, directors of university institutes and heads of independent centres was placed before the Academic Council on August 26.
