Tom Cruise's ex-wife Kidman is set to star alongside his latest former lover Cruz in a new movie.

Spanish film-maker Pedro Almodovar and Cruz are hoping to persuade the Oscar winner to join the director's forthcoming untitled project.

"Pedro knows I love and admire Nicole's work so much. She's a great woman," Contactmusic quoted Cruz, as saying.

Cruise split from Volver beauty Cruz in January 2004 after two and a half years together. The couple went public with their relationship in July 2001 - just weeks before Cruise officially divorced Kidman.
