Curfew in Udaipur after sects clash

Curfew was imposed in Bohrawadi area of Udaipur city following clashes between two sects of Bohra community over the issue of offering namaz at a local mosque, reports KS Tomar.

Curfew was imposed in Bohrawadi area of Udaipur city following clashes between two sects of Bohra community over the issue of offering namaz at a local mosque which left several people, including three municipal counsellors, injured.

Inspector general of police, Rajeev Dasot, told HT that curfew was imposed in a very limited area of Bohrawadi and the situation was under control after the security forces were called.

Dasot said “two sects of the Bohra community, including Bohra Shabab and Bohra Youth, had a dispute over the right to offer namaz at a local mosque which was settled by the court 15 years ago."
