Day after bomb hoax, security back to lax best

NOT EVEN 24 hours passed, after the bomb hoax made everyone jittery at SGPGIMS. On Friday, security was back to its lax minimum, all over the campus. NOT EVEN 24 hours passed, after the bomb hoax made everyone jittery at SGPGIMS. On Friday, security was back to its lax minimum, all over the campus.

On Friday morning, of the three guards on duty at the main gate, two were busy chatting, while another was attending phone calls, from inside the campus. As a result, dozens of big bags entered inside the campus, unchecked.

Inside the campus too, security arrangement remained as usual. Instead of focusing on patients’ attendants coming to the hospital, security guards checked the hospital staff that resides on the campus.

PGI has 120 security guards and a round the clock security is maintained by 40 guards working in three shifts. Most security guards inside the hospital complex are engaged in guiding patients and attendants instead of checking them.

The hospital authorities only appealed to attendants to keep their baggage outside the campus but could not restrict them. All this when the campus is spread in hundreds of acres and it is practically impossible to check the entire campus in one go.
