Son of late Murasoli Maran, Dayanidhi has been elected to 14th Lok Sabha from Madras Central constituency, traditionally a DMK stronghold.

Harvard-educated Maran has stepped into his father's shoes and defeated ruling AIADMK candidate N Balaganga.
