The death of a first-year MBBS student of Teerthanker Mahaveer University in Moradababd last week remains a mystery.
The body of Neeraj Bhadana from Faridabad was found near the girls' hostel on June 6.
Initially, the university authorities had termed her death an accident, claiming that she was sitting on the railing of the fifth floor of the hostel from where she fell.
But the postmortem report on Monday said no broken bone was found in her body and mentioned strangulation as the cause of death.
A case of murder has been lodged against unidentified people, and the crime branch of Moradabad is investigating the case.
"We are seeking assistance of forensic medico-legal experts to solve the case," said Harishchandra, assistant superintendent of police (ASP), crime branch, Moradabad.
The girl's family has accused some students of bullying her, which they claim led to her death.
"We are questioning her colleagues to verify the charges levelled by her family," said ASP Harishchandra.
District magistrate Sanjay Kumar has also ordered a magisterial inquiry into the case while additional district magistrate (finance) Sanjay Kumar Singh has been asked to submit a report in the matter.
