A debt-ridden farmer allegedly committed suicide at Murambi village in tribals- dominated Igatpuri taluk of Nashik district, police said on Thursday.

Vishnu Murlidhar Shinde, 45, who owned 44 acres of land, ended his life on Wednesday by hanging himself in his house, they said.

Shinde was frustrated as heavy rain damaged his crop and he could not repay mounting debts, police said.
