While in the country the rate of support price of wheat was Rs 650 per quintal, its import on excess payment revealed that the Congress government was working under pressure of capitalist forces, he said.

Talking to mediapersons, Yadav condemned the Union government for its failure to check sky rocketing prices of the essential commodities, kerosene, petrol and diesel and said the rise in price had shattered the monthly budget of people.
Gopal Yadav said that in the working committee meeting held on April 4 in Lucknow the Samajwadi Party discussed seven-point agenda, including Parliamentary by-election at Rae Bareli and also reviewed the performance of the party in panchayat elections.

He claimed that the SP government would complete its tenure despite efforts to destabilise the government by the Congress and the BJP. He repeatedly said that the next Assembly election would be held in May 2007 and SP would emerge victorious due to its pro-people policies. He highlighted the decision of Rs 500 unemployment allowance for the youth.
