Superintending engineer PK Ajmera instructed the junior engineers to check those consumers whose sanctioned time period of temporary connection has expired. He added that arrears should be recovered.

Ajmera further said that since potato crop is going to be harvested soon the cultivators of this crop should be asked to give arrears as they would be in a position to pay now. He maintained that continuity of power supply to cultivators in rural areas should be maintained.

It is pertinent to mention here that number of temporary connections sanctioned per day in rural areas of Indore has decreased by more than 60 percent, which has started worrying the officers of Western Region Electricity Distribution Company.

Only about 40 temporary connections were sanctioned in rural areas of Indore yesterday, while in November about 150 temporary connections were sanctioned per day thus their number has decreased to 1/3.

If this trend continues, it is likely to make a dent in the revenue of the company. These days only about 40 to 50 cultivators approach the company staff for temporary connection.

This number is going to decline further as Rabi season is going to end soon. Thus in spite of concerted efforts of the company officials the desired results are not coming.
