This Mother’s Day, Delhiites have one more reason to rejoice. According to Google Insights for Search, a tool that helps map search indices, Delhi tops the list of cities that searched the most for content related to ‘Mother’s Day’.

Maharashtra stands second on the list. Though, the figures will keep coming in till Sunday, the situation is unlikely to change. Interestingly, this is the second year in a row that Delhi tops the list.

“One reason for this could be that the family bond in Delhi is very strong. More youngsters in Delhi prefer to stay with their family, than compared to Mumbai. Even I did search to find an apt gift for my mom,” says model Amanpreet Wahi.

Chess player Tania Sachdeva agrees. “I think in Delhi seeing moms and daughters hanging out together is a common sight. Whenever I am in Delhi, my mom and I go out together for shopping and dining. And this friendly relationship is what is reflected in the index,” she says.

“The data shows that Delhiites try their best to make their mothers feel special. Even the schools in Delhi are makings kids more aware about special days like the Mother’s Day. This increasing awareness leads to more people searching online and that is what is reflected here,” says socialite Sonali Punj.

Designer Nida Mahmood says, “Delhi is very culturally rich and families are much more attached here especially mothers and daughters. As my mom is not going to be in town, I have already booked flowers for her and then a surprise will be waiting for her as soon as she comes back.”

“I think Delhiites make an extra effort to find unusual ways to make their moms happy. I know so many people who go to different websites to search for an appropriate gift,” says media professional Megha Chawla.
