Delhi International Marathon flagged off

The marathon involving a prize money of $250,000, was flagged off on Sunday with over 3,000 athletes taking part in the full and half marathon categories.

The Delhi International Marathon, involving a prize money of $250,000, was flagged off on Sunday with over 3,000 athletes taking part in the full and half marathon categories.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit flagged off the 42.195 km full marathon (Great India Run) at 7 am, while the 21.098 km half marathon (Great Delhi Run) began at 7.30 am.

Besides the full and half marathons, the event is being held in three other categories - the seven km fun run (Great Tiranga Run), the four km senior citizens run (Golden Years Run) and the one km course for physically challenged citizens (Wheel for Freedom).
