Delhi says CHEESE, cake style

While the USA celebrates the National Blueberry Cheesecake Day on May 26 every year, the dessert also enjoys a fair share of popularity when it comes to Delhi. Apart from blueberry cheesecake, other varieties are also served in eateries and bakeries across the city.

While the USA celebrates the National Blueberry Cheesecake Day on May 26 every year, the dessert also enjoys a fair share of popularity when it comes to Delhi. Apart from blueberry cheesecake, other varieties are also served in eateries and bakeries across the city. A cheesecake, which is of two types — baked and unbaked, is made from fresh soft cheese on a crust usually comprising of biscuits. We list down some of the places in the city where you can get to enjoy cheesecakes.

The Second Sin
This newly renovated restaurant specialises in seasonal fruit cheesecakes like raspberry and kiwi, though the blueberry cheesecake is the most popular. Here, the base of the cheesecakes is made of digestive biscuits. In the summer, they also offer the mango cheesecake.

This place needs no introduction, as it is one of the oldest bakeries in the city, and is famous for its cakes and pastries. When it comes to cheescakes, they only offer the New York cheesecake, which doesn’t have a boisterous presentation. Made up of a crunchy biscuit base, it’s a plain original cheesecake packed with a lot of flavour. The helpful and polite staff makes a visit to this place even better.

Angels in my kitchen
'This bakery has a good variety of cheesecakes such as all fruit, strawberry, mango and lemon. Their baked American cheesecake, which is loaded with chunks of chocolate brownies, is something which has a very different taste and you might not find it anywhere else in Delhi. Apart from this, the blue berry cheesecake is another hot seller here.

It’s a quirky new place with a number of cheesecakes. Among the seven varieties of cheesecake here, the most popular is the New York Cheesecake (R225 per slice). They make their cheesecakes with Philadelphia cheese. The other cheesecakes that are sold here are mango, lemon, caramel crunch, mistress (chocolate cheesecake with Oreo cookie base), strawberry and blueberry.

Interiors done with bright coloured furniture makes Mocha worth a visit. Their blueberry cheesecake consists of mascarpone cheese and fresh chunks of blueberry. This cheesecake is quite fluffy and soft.

This café, which specialises in American cuisine, has a lot to offer when it comes to cheesecakes. Some of the most popular cheesecakes here are strawberry, blueberry and mixed fruit. Their speciality is wild berry cheesecake, which is a rare flavour. This cheesecake also happens to be Jiji Kitchen & Bakery’s bestseller, with a sale of about 10kgs per day.

Located in Khan Market, Watermelon is the new kid on the block. It serves two flavours of cheesecakes — mango and blueberry. They use digestive biscuits in place of the normal ones to make the dish crunchier. The blueberry cheesecake is the bestseller here. It sells around 10-15 portions of blueberry cheesecake everyday. Chefs at Watermelon use a lot of butter to enhance the flavour of the cheesecake. This place is worth a try.

Located in the beautiful market of Hauz Khas Village, this cafe serves three varieties of cheesecakes — Torta Di Ricotta , New York style cheesecake that is served with strawberry compote, and mascarpone cheesecake in flavours like mango, blueberry, passion fruit, strawberry and lemon. Its bestseller, Torta Di Ricotta, is a typical Italian style baked cheesecake made with ricotta and lemon zest.
