Delhi violence: Victims to be compensated

Govt has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the widespread violence that was witnessed during traders' bandh yesterday.

Delhi Government on Thursday announced a compensation of Rs two lakh for the next of kin of those killed in the violence that marked Wednesday's traders' bandh against the MCD's sealing drive in New Delhi.

While Rs two lakh will be given to the families of the adults who were killed, Rs one lakh will be given as compensation to the next of kin of any minor victim, an official spokesman said.

Rs one lakh will also be given to cases of incapacitation, while those with serious injuries will get Rs 50,000, he said.

People who received minor injuries in the violence will get Rs 5,000 as compensation.

The government has already ordered a magisterial inquiry into the widespread violence that was witnessed during the traders' bandh on Wednesday, that left four persons dead and over 50 injured.
