Main road of the colony from COD gate number 6 leading to H-Block is in a dilapidated state and needs immediate repair.

Singh pointed out for the past several years the main road of the colony was lying in a dilapidated state and needed immediate repair.

“We had made several request to the Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) earlier for repair of the road but to no avail,” stated Singh.

The entire stretch of the road spanning into two kilometers has many big ditches, which have led to several accidents in the past.

Commuters, school going children and women had been the worst sufferers of the indifferent attitude of the civic body. The ditches filled with water have also become a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes and a perfect place for stray pigs to wallow.

Even after the imminent danger of breakout of any contagious disease in Barra, no step has been taken by the authorities concerned to repair the road. The apathy of KMC has led to a strong resentment among local residents of Barra.

Vice Principal of GIC Inter College and a local resident Saddan Prasad Shukla vented his ire at the indifferent attitude of KMC.

“ Several complaints have already been made to KMC requesting for the repair of the road but to no avail,” stated Shukla.

Accidents on the main road have become a routine feature and even fatal accidents have been reported, added Shukla.

Former defence personnel Surendra Singh Rathore also expressed his resentment against the indifferent attitude of KMC officials.

“ It seems the authorities concerned are waiting for a major accident to take place before initiating any action to repair the road,” stated Singh.
