The services of 12 contractual employees involved in fogging operations were terminated due to their negligence in carrying out their duties, Municipal Health Officer NK Yadav informed a meeting of the civic body's standing committee.

The meeting also saw heated exchanges between opposition and ruling benches on the dengue issue.

"We have also asked the officials in-charge of fogging in various localities to monitor the operations properly and take note of any indiscipline or negligence in their teams," Yadav said.

Apart from this, the civic body has decided to allocate Rs 10 lakh to each zone to help contain the disease and ensure better cleanliness.

The number of dengue cases in the capital rose to 743 with the total number of deaths reported rising to 18.
