Deploy paramilitary forces during Ardh Kumbh: Rewati

MEMBER OF Parliament Rewati Raman Singh demanded for the deployment of paramilitary forces during Dussehra, Durga Puja and Ardh Kumbh Mela.

Singh stated this during a meeting organised to review the preparations of Dussehra, Durga Puja and Ardh Kumbh at the Commissioner’s office under the presidentship of Divisional Commissioner Ravindra Nath Tripathi.

Singh said that help will be sought by the Army to provide maximum security at Saraswati Ghat during immersion of idol of Goddess Durga. He expressed dissatisfaction over the slow progress of work in Bairahna area.

He directed the general manager of the UP Power Corporation to ensure that regular supply was maintained in the city and directed the transport and health department officials to make necessary preparations to provide services to the large number of people expected on the occasion.

Commissioner directed the Durga Puja and Ramlila Committees to take authorised electric connections while Mela Officer Pragyan Ram Mishra presented the details of funds utilised in works in Mela area.

Those present in the meeting included SSP Vijay Singh Meena, Allahabad Development Authority vice-president Himanshu Kumar, GM Power Corporation, ADM (city), Sushil Kumar, Nagar Ayukt SN Srivastava, CMO Dr SM Singhvi, GM Water works Rashid Khan, Ashok Singh, SP (trans-Yamuna), SP (Trans-Ganga), and several officers from civil defence, irrigation department besides representatives of Ramlila and Durga Puja committees.
