The office furniture and other articles were gutted in the fire as miscreants threw petrol through an open window of the office, situated at Chirao Chowk, about 10 kms from here, Additional SP Vedprakash Godara said.

They also tried to destroy the jeep of the block development officer, he said, adding some office records has been destroyed due to the incident.

They also tried to set nearby building of Punjab National Bank on fire. No arrest has been made by the police in this connection so far.
