Shopaholics beware. Feeding your addiction has just become far easier. For those who can’t spend more than ten minutes at their computer without hitting up online stores, this particular concept might prove to be deadly.
Travelling designer boutique and online store Firstrow.in has now made its offerings available at your fingertips…literally. Founder Radhika Dhawan explains, “When we started the online store, we got messages from friends and family asking questions about specific products they’d seen.
So I would take pictures and send it to them, with all the information required. Then we decided to create a group on BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) so that it would be easy to communicate.”Since the service only allows users to add 30 members to a group, Dhawan was forced to create three groups in just four months of launching this BBM store concept.
“Initially, we’d send information when a member asked for it. Now, we send message bursts featuring new products every two weeks. That way, we’re not constantly spamming their phones,” Dhawan adds. Orders can be placed via BBM, and payments can be made on delivery or via wire transfers.
The best part of this on-demand store is that members have access to products that are not available on the website. Dhawan says their core business involves holding designer trunk shows in various small towns and cities. “Some designers don’t want their garments to be featured online.
So we put those up on the BBM store. Since the group consists of friends, or friends of friends, we want them to know they’re getting something special,” she adds.
