Dharna against contaminated water supply

PEEVED WITH the contaminated water supply in their areas, local residents of Dalmandi and Jiyapura area under the leadership of former carporators Shaid Ali Khan and Firdaus Begam staged a dharna outside the office of the Jal Sansthan in Beniabagh on Saturday. The locals were displaying empty earthen pots and buckets while staging the dharna. The agitators alleged that there contaminated water was being supplied in their localities, including Shekh Salim Phatak and Jiyapura, for the last 20 days.

The locals were displaying empty earthen pots and buckets while staging the dharna. The agitators alleged that there contaminated water was being supplied in their localities, including Shekh Salim Phatak and Jiyapura, for the last 20 days. The dharna continued for four hours.

The agitated locals raised slogans against the officials of the Jal Sansthan. The secretary of the general manager reached the dharna venue and assured the residents that the Jal Sansthan would solve their problems within three days.

District president of Rastriya Lok Dal Wasim Ahmed Munna presided over the dharna. Prominent among those who participated in dharna were Kadir Ahmed, Saghir Ansari, Manoj Prajapati, Gopal Rai, Bhola Khan, Khalid, Phannu Siddiqui, etc.
