Assam's insurgent outfit Dima Haola Daoga (DHD), active in the hill districts of North Cachar and Karbi Anglong, on Monday made a new year peace offering for replacing conflict with peace, friction with reconciliation and hatred with love.

In his new year greetings to journalists through SMS as a peace offering, Dima Halam Daogah commander-in-chief Pranab Dimasa said "as you stand on the threshold of saying farewell to the year goneby, before you enter the new year to come, sift through the luggage upon your shoulder: and replace the friction with reconciliation."

"Hatred with love, misunderstanding with coordination, conflict with peace, walls with bridges, blame with support, problems with solutions and strength with the resolve to make a difference this year," Dima advised.

DHD now on ceasefire with the centre was accused of being involved in the recent month-long Karbi-Dimasa ethnic violence in the district since September 26 last that saw over 100 dead, thousands of houses burnt and lakhs homeless.

Meanwhile, the Joint Coordination Committee of the Karbis has also appealed to all sections not to indulge in any kind of violence in the trouble-torn district.

In a statement issued in Guwahati on Monday, JCC Chief Convenor Longslug Teron also urged the administration not to harass innocent people by arresting them without any valid cause.
