Dholakia gets 'Pride of India' award
Industrialist Gulam Noon and actor Saeed Jaffrey were among other prominent NRIs honoured in UK.
The audience at the India International Foundation award function at the Hilton in Wembley was symbolic of the success of the Indian community in Britain. Lord Navnit Dholakia, the first recipient from Britain of Prasar Bhartiya Samman patra at the Prasar Bhartiya meet two years ago in Delhi, was given the " Pride of India" award.

Lord Dholakia, deputy leader of the Liberal Democrat Party in the House of Lords, has been the most articulate defender of the country's interest in the upper house and there could be no better person to be given the Pride of India award. He has also been in the vanguard ventilating the interest of the Asian communities during discussions on immigration, asylum and forced marriages issues.
Sir Gulam K Noon, the pioneer in Indian food industry and Dr Kartar Lavani, who has revolutionised vitamin supplement industry in the UK and whose supplementary medicines are exported to over 90 countries, were the other recipients. The famous actor Saeed Jaffrey was also among several other awardees.
The awards were given by the Indian High Commissioner Kamlesh Sharma who praised the NRIs for their success and contribution to the British society and the economy.
